Financial Literacy Would Be included as Curriculum In Nigerian Schools
Financial literacy would be taught as a subject at the junior and senior levels of Nigerian secondary schools before the end of the year, Central Bank of Nigeria ( CBN) announced yesterday as it joined the global community to commemorate the global money week.
The bank said it has commenced discussions with the National Education Resource Centre (NERC) to make financial literacy part of the curriculum of secondary schools across the country.CBN Director of Consumer Protection Department, Hajiya Umma Dutse, said this yesterday in Abuja when she led the apex bank’s team on a global money walk to junior secondary schools at Dutsen Alhaji in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja as part of activities lined up to commemorate the week. Represented by a Deputy Director in the department, Hajiya Khadijat Kazeem, she said it was high time we started inducting financial literacy and culture of savings on Nigerian youths.
