Northern actors stage solidarity walk for actress Ibinabo Fiberesima

A group of northern actors on March 17, 2016, staged a solidarity walk tagged#pardonibinabofiberesima for Nollywood actress, Ibinabo Fiberesima. She has been sentenced to serve a five-year jail term on a charge of manslaughter, which led to the death of Dr. Giwa in a car accident.

The Justice of the Lagos High Court, Deborah Oluwayemi, gave the verdict after the Actors Guild of Nigeria   president was found guilty of reckless driving, which led to Giwa’s death.

Many celebrities and close friends have expressed sympathies directed at the actress, who had been hopeful that the court ruling would go in her favour.

Unfortunately, it did not go as she has expected.

Cool FM presenter, Freeze, is of the opinion that a jail term is not the best decision in the situation.

He said, “I am of the opinion that she should be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the children. This responsibility should be directly proportional to her income.”

He said, “I am of the opinion that she should be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the children. This responsibility should be directly proportional to her income.”

“Also, a portion of her income should go to the wife unless she, (the wife) states otherwise.”

“No amount of money can replace a loved one. However, taking financial responsibility could help bring closure to the bereaved family.”

The actress has however made a final appeal at the Supreme Court of Nigeria to reconsider the Lagos High Court ruling.
