MEET YEMI ALADE, NIGERIAN ARTIST WHO REFLECTS ART IN HER HAIRSTYLES

Yemi Alade is one out of many Nigerian female artists whose hairstyles reflect art in an African way. African hairstyles can be traced back to the 19th century and they continue to weave their way into various facets of the African woman's life. With hairstyles moving from the traditional threading to women using various extensions which include multi colors, Yemi Alade seemed unmoved with all these trends. Her hairstyles which she debuts in most of her music videos always throw it back to the threading days. Her styles are eclectic and speaks volumes of her undying love for African art.

It's a known fact that most African hairstyles can be traced to the ancient Egyptian writings of hieroglyphics. Some historians have linked African hairstyles to the 1931 archeological findings of the sand burst of Queen Nefertiti of Egypt, whose beauty was much talked about and enhanced by her towering hairstyles which became the mark of many African women.

Perhaps, Yemi Alade has decided to walk on this path, whatever her inspiration is, for always making African women proud and bold through her numerous beautiful hairstyles is a thing to be admired.
