Vaginal Itchiness and Home Remedies to Treat it.

Vagina itching can be a result of many different conditions. It could be caused by dryness of the vagina or chemical irritants found in scented soaps. This is why it is not advisable to wash your vagina with perfumed soaps as they can irritate the skin and cause itchiness. Other causes of vaginal itchiness are yeast infection, bacterial vaginosis, or sexually transmitted infections (STI).
There are many home remedies to relieve the itchy vagina but it’s necessary that you know when to visit a doctor for proper examination and possible treatment. These home remedies depend on the extent of the itchiness you are experiencing. Here are 7 remedies to help with vaginal itchiness.

1. Apple Cider Vinegar: many people are of the opinion that adding apple cider vinegar to your bath can soothe a yeast infection. This is a good home remedy to try s it does not have any side effects.

Add half a cup of apple cider vinegar to your bath water and soak yourself in the bathwater for 10-40 minutes.

2. Coconut Oil: This is used for treating many skin problems. Coconut oil is known to kill candida albicans which causes yeast infections.

Insert coconut oil directly into your vagina. Ensure it is high-quality, pure coconut oil. It is advisable to wear a pad in order not to stain your clothing.

3. Antifungal cream: There are many over-the-counter antifungal creams that can be used to relieve vaginal itchiness. They kill off the yeast. These can also come in the form of vaginal suppositories that can be inserted into the vagina.

4. Cotton Underwear: This is helpful if you have vaginal or vulva discomfort. Cotton underwear is breathable which means that it can help to reduce itchy skin conditions. Wearing underwear made with 100 percent cotton might prevent yeast infection because yeast does not thrive in well-ventilated places.

5. Yoghurt and Honey: Yoghurt contains a type of bacteria called lactobacillus which live in the genitals. Applying a mixture of yogurt and honey to the vulva can help treat fungal infection responsible for vaginal itching.

6. Garlic: Some people believe that inserting garlic into the vagina can help to prevent or treat bacterial or fungal infections. However, there is no evidence to support this claim.

7. Practice good vaginal hygiene: This will help prevent and soothe an itchy vagina. When it comes to washing the coochie, all you need to do is wash the outside vagina with warm water because the vagina naturally washes itself.

Do not use scented soap, gels, or cleansers. Over-washing the vagina can also cause itchiness, so you want to make sure that you are not overdoing the washing.
