Mother stabbed on chest after she confronted yobs for waking her eight month old baby
A new mother was inches from death after she told off noisy yobs for waking up her baby - and one stabbed her in the chest.
Donna Cross, 33, had 'reached the end of her tether' with the gang after they woke up eight-week-old daughter Jordannah-Skye.
The knife wound narrowly missed her heart and was inflicted by one of the thugs after she told them to 'shut up'.
Miss Cross was rushed to King's College Hospital for emergency surgery after losing two-and-a-half pints of blood. She also suffered damage to her breast-bone.
Boyfriend Jon Stone, 32, said: 'It all happened so quickly; neither of us realised she had been stabbed at first.
'Then Donna felt the blood on her chest. I thought she was going to die. All I could think of was our baby daughter being left without her mum.'
A spokesman for Kent Police said: 'Kent Police was called at 8.45pm on Tuesday, March 15 to a report of an assault in Southill Road, Chatham.
'A woman was taken to a London hospital for treatment to her injuries.
'A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released without charge.
'Inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.'
