Gunmen kidnap Abaji chairman's wife


Suspected gunmen have kidnapped the wife of Abaji Area Council boss, Hajiya Khadijat YahayaGarba.The gunmen invaded Gigbe village, the hometown of the chairman, Alhaji Yahaya GarbaGawu, at about 1:30a.m. on Tuesday, an aide to the chairman said.The aide, who did not want to be named, said the gunmen came into the village in an unmarked vehicle, went directly to the room of  Khadijat and whisked her away.He said the gunmen forcefully entered the building through the back door, shot into the air and took her away.

“It was the sound of their gunshot that attracted drew villagers’ attention,” the aide said.The aide said the council boss was not at home when the incident happened but he was later informed by his family members.The Abaji Divisional Police officer (DPO) CSP David Kolo, could not be reached for comment, but a police officer at the station said the case was reported at the Gwagwalada Area Command.The Area Commander, ACP Olufemi Abinwaja, however, added that a little girl was also kidnapped along with the council chairman’s wife.He said: “We are on top of the situation. I will keep in touch as we progresses on how to rescue her with the little child alive.”
