A woman has penned a powerful message defending her 'small' engagement ring as she insists she will never trade the beloved token of her 'whirlwind' romance for a bigger stone.Rachel Pedersen, 27, from Eden Prairie, Minnesota, took to Facebook to share a photoof her engagement ring featuring a roughly 1/4 carat diamond center as she revealed that friends and family often ask her when she is going to have it 'upgraded'. However, the mother-of-two, who wed her husband Poul Pedersen just 13 days after they met, argues that her ring is more than just a status symbol.
Rachel noted that she even had one person say: 'You could wear a bigger ring for important events, so people don't think you're not successful.' But size doesn't matter to the digital marketing consultant insisted that her ring is a reminder of her and her husband's epic lovestory.
'Wait a minute... Since when did the size of someone's ring become an indication of success?' she asked. 'For me, the ring is so much more.'My ring symbolizes a whirlwind, storybook,"make you sick" love story... It reminds me of how my husband and I met and fell at in love in one night at a Perkin's diner.'
Rachel explained that she was a single mother to her daughter Dakota and he was working as a window washer when they first met, and just a week later they professed their love for each other.
So we didn't.'The couple eloped 13 days after they met, and she explained that she didn't 'even think about a ring' until her husband surprised her with one before the ceremony that took placein October 2013. '
He drained his savings to gift me with a smalltoken of his love,' she noted. 'I say small, only because it pales in comparison with how big his love is, even now, after years of marriage.'That, my friends, is success to me.'
