Man burgles church, carts away public address system

A youth has been arrested and charged before amagistrate court for burglary and theft after he was caught in a church stealing in Lagos State Western Nigeria.The suspect, Kabiru Shakiru allegedly broke into a Cherubim and Seraphim church (Obaloluwa) and carted away their public address system and escaped.

The incident happened at the church premises located at Gbada Asaimu street in Idimu in Lagos.He was alleged to have burgled a vehicle parked inside the church premises and carted away battery and other accessories as well.However, while Shakiru was fleeing with the items in the early morning, he was apprehended by the residents who handed him over to the police at Idimu division.The stolen items were recovered from him as exhibits by the police.

Shakiru was charged before the court for the alleged offence under the Criminal code.He pleaded not guilty.The presiding Magistrate, Mrs J.O.E. Adeyemi granted him bail to the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum.He was remanded in prison custody pending when perfects his bail.The matter was adjourned till 18 April 2016. P.M.NEWS gathered that Shakiru refused to inform his parents and preferred to remain in prison because of the shame he had brought to the family.
